![]() Obligato makes them not too expensive, but very bulky. On my 26 preamp, I put polypro oil and I really like (ASC). Tube Cap Mundorfs are very good, but expensive chemicals are also good, and not expensive. In power supply the JJ are not bad, very warm (not to say a bit colored), not expensive, but a friend had a reliability problem. (they will tell me that it is the break-in ?). ), like what they are even superior to the BG, I do not like the sound: it is too bright, too smooth nothing to do with a BG. I wanted to test the Kasei in cathode, and despite all the speech of AN (they are strong. In power supply, I have Cerafine on my 300B. In cathode, I love the BG, they are really the best (FK or VK). Admittedly WKZ, but rarity and speculation on these BGs make that it is really too expensive. The 5687 symmetrical with output transformer is interesting. The filament power supply is very neat with chokes, and prefers the D3A in pentode. (dans le bon sens).Ĭlick to expand.Hello Salectric, yes, I write in French, use Google Trad I saw Izzy Wizzy's project (present phono 2020), very interesting too. Oui, j'écris en Français, utilisez Google Trad I realize comments on discontinued parts may seem like a waste of time but I wanted to warn against possible disappointment with BG caps other than WKZ. I was reluctant to commit one of my few remaining WKZ caps to something I don’t use much but I couldn’t resist after I heard the difference. I thought the DAC sounded pretty decent, but out of curiosity I wired in a WKZ 100uf single and there was a major improvement in sound quality-detail and dynamics especially. I built a DAC last year and I used a single VK 150uf, 300v in the its choke-input power supply for the tube audio portion. I have to say though, despite the over-the-top descriptions in that review, the VK caps are far behind the WKZ in sound quality. There was a review in one of the ezines a couple years ago with lots of pictures and you can easily read the cap markings. At least one expensive Audio Note power amp uses those very caps in series for its B+ filtering. For example there is a compact 150uf, 300v VK cap and you can use a pair in series to get a B+ filter cap. The VK series comes with higher voltage ratings. I like all of the FK series caps I have tried, but these are lower voltage caps more suited to cathode bypass duty or bias supplies than B+ filtering. There are other BG series that are sometimes listed by some distributors. All of the WKZ caps I have tried sound great but the very best in my opinion are the 100uf units. They came in singles and duals with various amounts of capacitance. The ones that sound so good are the big cans in the WKZ series.
